Introducing Big Rock Refuse Service: a local advocacy campaign for sustainable stewardship of Big Rock Ridge!
In recent years we have seen an increase in litter along the trails and fire roads of the ridge. With increasing numbers of people recreating on the ridge, it’s important to steward this place we love.
The hope with this campaign is to raise awareness of the rising issues of pollution and garbage that often comes with increased recreation on the ridge.
Beyond just raising awareness, we will work to eventually promote communal cleanup events on the ridge. Our hope is to bring trail users from across the board to help keep this public open space we love so dearly clean, safe and sustainable. Stewarding the lands is to steward ourselves.
If you find yourself coming across repeated areas of dumping or spend an afternoon clearing litter on the ridge, use the #bigrockrefuseservice to share your work with us.
